My Yoga Journey
I began practicing yoga over nine years ago, during a time in my life when I felt lost and needed something grounding - something to pour my energy into. Having grown up dancing, I missed that deep connection to movement. Yoga quickly became the perfect blend of mindful awareness and playful, expressive movement. To this day, I love weaving dancer-like elements into my teaching style.
Throughout my twenties, yoga was a constant companion. It became more than just a hobby, it was the one thing that truly stuck. I developed a strong drive to master advanced postures, and, through yoga itself, discovered a new ability to focus and stay committed to my practice and goals.
While studying at university, I began exploring teacher training and eventually completed my certification with Yoga East + West, with a primary focus on vinyasa and ashtanga. The training also delved deeply into the traditional roots of yoga - something I continue to honour in my practice today, while embracing contemporary elements like ambient music and flowing, dance-inspired sequences. That experience solidified my love for yoga and shaped the way I teach today.
After university, I stayed in London to pursue a career as a painter. While I experienced some success, I eventually realized that London wasn’t the right place for me long-term. Still, I’ll always be grateful to the city, it's where my passion for yoga truly blossomed. I practiced in some of the best studios in the world and trained with incredible teachers. I was exposed to a wide range of styles, many of which now influence my own teaching. Whenever I return to London, I always make time for a Rocket class - it feels like coming home.
About a year ago, I moved back to the Isle of Man and felt a strong desire to bring the vibrant yoga styles I experienced in London to my home community. I now teach from studios in Douglas and also offer private sessions from my home studio. I truly believe yoga is for everyone, and I’m passionate about sharing its transformative power with everyone I meet.
